Live check

Checking your browser…

We’re asking your browser whether it supports WebGPU, which HUM needs to run.

Getting started

Is it free to play?

Yes. HUM is free to play right here in your browser — no store, no launcher, no download. Click Play on the game page and you’re in.

Which browsers can run HUM?

HUM is built on WebGPU, the new graphics standard for the web. It runs on:

  • Chrome or Edge 113+ on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and Linux (best experience)
  • Safari 26+ on macOS
  • Firefox versions with WebGPU enabled

If your browser doesn’t support WebGPU you’ll see a message instead of the game. Updating your browser fixes this for most people.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

Not yet. HUM needs a keyboard and mouse and a desktop-class GPU. Mobile support is something we’d love to do properly, rather than badly — we’ll announce it on the news page if and when it happens.

What are the controls?
W A S D / arrowsMove
MouseLook
ShiftJog
Ctrl / CWalk slowly / crouch
E or clickInteract
SpaceStop and listen
Tab / MMap

F L Q TChalk, light, camcorder, walkman — once you’ve found them

A standard gamepad works too. Click the game window first so it can capture your mouse.

Performance & graphics

The game is running slowly. What can I do?
  • Open Settings → Resolution scale and lower it to 75% or 60% — the biggest single win.
  • Close other heavy tabs and apps, especially video calls.
  • Plug your laptop in: many machines throttle the GPU on battery.
  • Update your browser and graphics drivers.
My laptop is using the wrong graphics card

On Windows, go to Settings → System → Display → Graphics, add your browser and set it to High performance. In Chrome you can confirm WebGPU is active by visiting chrome://gpu.

The screen is too dark

That’s partly the point — but you should still be able to see the floor. Use Settings → Brightness, and turn off any “night light” or blue-light filters, which crush dark tones.

Should I use headphones?

Please do. HUM is built around sound — footsteps, voices and the hum itself are positioned in 3D, and many clues are things you hear before you see. Start at a moderate volume: there are sudden loud moments.

Saves & accounts

How do saves work?

HUM saves automatically at checkpoints. Saves live in your browser on this device, so you can play without an account. Choose Continue from the main menu to pick up a saved wanderer.

How do I keep my progress across computers?

Create a free account and sign in, then launch HUM. Your save slots sync to your Solo Frogs account and are waiting on any other computer you sign in on. You can manage them from your account.

I cleared my browser data and my save is gone

Clearing site data deletes local saves. If you were signed in with cloud sync, sign back in and your slots will reappear. If you weren’t, the save can’t be recovered — sorry. We recommend signing in if your progress matters to you.

How do I delete my account or data?

Sign in and open your account: you can delete individual cloud saves, or delete your whole account (we’ll ask for your password) and every save goes with it, straight away. Prefer email? Write to privacy@solofrogs.com from the address on your account. See the Privacy Policy for your rights.

Known issues

The mouse stops responding or the cursor appears

Click inside the game window to recapture the pointer. Some browser extensions and screen recorders interfere with pointer lock — try a private window.

No sound

Browsers block audio until you interact with a page, so click the game once it loads. Check your tab isn’t muted, and that Settings → Master volume is up.

“Your browser doesn’t support WebGPU”

Update to the latest Chrome or Edge. In Firefox, WebGPU may need enabling. On older hardware your GPU may be on a browser blocklist — updating drivers usually helps.
